VEED alternative: when the editor is not the part that costs you time

VEED is a strong browser editor with subtitles and translation. Here is what its plans actually buy, where the editor stops, and what still lands on you after the export.

Answer one question before comparing features: do you need an editor, or do you need a posted video. VEED hands you a file. Everything that happens to that file afterwards is still your job.

What a VEED plan buys

VEED runs in the browser with nothing to install: auto subtitles, translation into 50+ languages, text to speech, avatars, a generative studio and a large stock library. Plans are priced in credits, and credits are spent on AI operations rather than on finished videos.

Prices are shown per user, so a team of three multiplies them by three. There is a free plan, but it watermarks the export and is built for a trial rather than for daily work.

Where VEED is strong

  • Opens in any browser on any laptop, nothing to install
  • Subtitles and translation into dozens of languages in a couple of clicks
  • Many tools in one window: audio cleanup, background removal, voiceover
  • A clear timeline if you enjoy editing and are good at it

Where it stops

1Film a take
2Upload to the editor
3Edit by hand
4Download the file
5Upload to 4 apps
The editor path: the last two steps come back every single day

The first limit is the role. An editor gives you hands, but the work stays yours: pick the take, cut the pauses, build the rhythm, choose the music. Half an hour per video, repeated daily for as long as you run the channel.

The second limit is publishing. VEED has been moving towards posting directly, yet 2026 reviews still describe the familiar route: download the file, open four apps, upload, write the caption. Telegram is not on their list of destinations at all.

The third limit is the unit of pricing. Credits are convenient for the vendor: to know whether a plan covers your month, you first have to know what each operation costs in credits.

What Monty does instead

Monty starts from the footage. Throw in a clip you already filmed and it writes the script in your brand voice, cuts pauses, filler words and bad takes, times captions to the speech, adds music and b-roll chosen by meaning, builds a version sized for each platform and publishes to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok and Telegram. Every post can wait for your approval if you want the control.

Unit of pricingCreditsVideos per month

Monty starts free with three videos a month, then Creator $29, Pro $49 and Studio $149 with team access, API and white-label output. Annual billing is roughly two months free. The plan is counted in videos, which is the thing you actually need at the end.

When VEED is still the right call

  • You like editing and want control over every frame
  • The task is a one-off promo, not a daily cadence
  • You need translation and dubbing into dozens of languages
  • You work with someone else's footage where manual work is the point

A test you can run tonight

  1. Time one video end to end, from upload to a live post, including the uploads to each app
  2. Multiply by the number of videos you plan this month
  3. Compare those hours with the price of a subscription that does it for you
  4. If more than half the time goes after the export, the editor is not your bottleneck
Monty is currently in beta and part of the access runs through a request form. The free tier stays after launch.

FAQ

Does VEED post to social networks by itself?

Partly, and not everywhere. The route described by 2026 reviews is still download the file and upload it by hand, and Telegram is not among their destinations.

How do VEED credits work?

Credits are consumed by AI operations such as subtitles, translation, generation and voiceover. Planning a month ahead is hard because the burn depends on which features you touch.

Is VEED cheaper than Monty?

On the sticker price for one seat, yes. The comparison changes once you price the half hour per video you keep spending inside the editor and on the uploads.

Can I use both?

Yes. Monty keeps the daily cadence from fresh footage, and an editor stays for the occasional video that genuinely needs hand work.
