invideo AI alternatives: prompt-to-video or your own face
invideo starts at $9 a seat; a second of Seedance 2.0 Fast video costs about 6 credits. What it does well, when footage-first wins, alternatives by job.
The best invideo alternative depends on which half of invideo you actually use. If you type a topic and want a finished video built from a script, stock footage and an AI voice, the closest replacements are other prompt-to-video tools such as Pictory, or avatar platforms such as HeyGen and Synthesia. If the point of your videos is your own face and voice, posted several times a week, you want a footage-first tool that starts from a recording you made.
invideo itself has grown well beyond the prompt box, so it is worth pinning down what it is in September 2026. Its AI video generator still writes the script, pulls visuals from 16 million+ stock photos and videos, and adds voiceover in over 50 languages, subtitles and music. Next to it sit generative video models, AI twins of yourself and Agent Two, an AI agent inside a full timeline editor. Below: what the plans buy, where the real fork is, and alternatives sorted by job.
What invideo is genuinely good at
- Faceless explainers from one prompt. Script, stock visuals, voiceover, background music and transitions arrive in a single pass, which is hard to beat for listicles, topic channels and product explainers.
- A deep stock library. With 16 million+ photos and videos, a generic topic nearly always finds matching footage.
- Generative scenes in the same workspace. Video models such as Seedance, Google Veo 3.1 and Kling are available inside invideo, with the full model list from Pro, so a shot nobody can film does not need a second subscription.
- An AI twin when filming is off the table. You upload a 60-second video or share a YouTube link and record consent. An Express avatar takes under five minutes; a Pro avatar needs 30 minutes or more of recordings.
- A real editor for your own footage. Every plan includes the full timeline editor with color, audio and 3D tools, your own footage exports in 4K from Basic, and timeline editing uses no credits.
What the plans buy in September 2026
invideo prices per seat and meters usage in credits, which are spent on video creation, generative models and other features. These are the three individual plans on its pricing page as of 15 September 2026.
| Basic | Pro | Ultra | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Billed monthly, per seat | $9 | $30 | $80 |
| Billed annually, per seat per month | $9 | $25 | $60 |
| Credits per seat per month | 190 | 1,000 | 3,000 |
| 5-second Seedance 2.0 Fast clips (720p) | 6 | 33 | 100 |
| Premium stock footage | 45 | 150 | 180 |
| Agent Two | Lite only | Lite, Pro, Ultra | Lite, Pro, Ultra |
| Storage | 10 GB | 30 GB | 80 GB |
Three details matter more than the sticker price. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month. invideo reserves the right to change credit costs at any time without prior notice. And the free plan runs on limited credits that reset weekly on Monday at 00:00 UTC, while projects exported before you subscribe keep their watermarks and have to be re-exported after you upgrade.
The real fork: prompt-first or footage-first
Feature lists make every video tool look alike. The more useful question is what the raw material of your video is, because generating footage and editing footage you shot are different jobs with different costs and different risks.
Prompt-first
- Input: a topic or a script
- Picture: stock, generated scenes or an avatar
- Voice: synthetic or cloned
- Strength: speed on topics that need no face
- Cost driver: credits per generation
Footage-first
- Input: a take you recorded
- Picture: you, plus cutaways
- Voice: your own
- Strength: a recognisable person viewers can trust
- Cost driver: your minutes on camera
Audiences read the two differently. In an Animoto survey of 460 US consumers and marketers fielded in September 2025, 78% of consumers said they trust videos featuring real people more than AI-generated content, and 36% of those who had watched AI videos said it lowered their trust in the brand.
Platform rules point the same way. On 15 July 2025 YouTube renamed its repetitious content policy to inauthentic content, and its monetization policy lists AI-generated videos made with generic or unoriginal templates, giving the impression of mass production without the creator's own insight, as ineligible. The target is sameness. A prompt-built channel with its own research and angle can stay eligible, and fifty interchangeable generated explainers are exactly what the policy describes. If you are going faceless on purpose, pick the niche before the tool, since the niche decides more of the revenue.
invideo alternatives by job
| What you are making | Look at | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| A faceless explainer from a script, article, URL or slides | Pictory | Turns text, URLs, PPTs and images into branded videos with captions, AI voices and avatars |
| A presenter on screen without filming | HeyGen, Synthesia | Avatar platforms built around a digital presenter; Synthesia advertises 160+ languages |
| Shots nobody can film | Runway | Generates and edits video, images and audio in one workspace |
| Short clips cut from a long recording | OpusClip | Turns long videos into clips and publishes them to social platforms |
| Short videos with your own face, several a week | Monty | Edits one phone take and posts it to Shorts, Reels, TikTok and Telegram |
| You like invideo and film yourself | invideo editor with Agent Two | Timeline editing on your own footage costs no credits |
For a wider map with prices, see the 2026 guide to AI video tools by task. If an avatar is what draws you to invideo, the avatar versus real footage comparison goes deeper into that trade-off.
A test to run before you switch
- Open your last ten videos and mark the ones where your face or voice carried the message. If most are marked, you are paying for generation you rarely use.
- For the rest, add up the seconds of generated footage and multiply by about 6 credits (the Seedance 2.0 Fast rate). Compare the total with your plan's monthly credits, keeping in mind that leftovers expire.
- Pick one upcoming topic and make it both ways: a prompt video in invideo and a single phone take edited by a footage-first tool. Publish both on the same platform a week apart and compare retention.
- Watch ten of your channel's videos in a row. If they feel interchangeable, change the format now, because that sameness is what YouTube's inauthentic content policy describes.
- Keep the route that gives better retention for the effort, and cancel the other before its next billing date.
Where Monty fits
Monty sits on the footage-first side. You record one take on a phone, or pick a clip from your gallery, and Monty writes the script in your style, cuts pauses, filler words and bad takes, adds kinetic captions synced to speech, B-roll chosen by meaning, music ducked under the voice and cleaned audio, then publishes to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok and Telegram, either after your approval or on a schedule. The free plan gives 3 videos a month with a watermark; Creator is $29 a month and Pro $49.
It does not cover the prompt-first half of invideo. Monty does not generate AI avatars or synthetic footage, does not pick the best minutes out of a long recording, and is not a manual timeline editor. If your channel is faceless by design, invideo or Pictory will serve it better; if the point of the video is you, Monty handles everything after you press record.

FAQ
Is there a free version of invideo AI?
Yes. The free plan needs no card and gives limited credits that reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Projects exported before you subscribe keep their watermarks and need a re-export after upgrading. Paid plans start with Basic at $9 per seat per month and 190 credits.
What is the best invideo alternative for faceless videos?
For videos built from a script, article or slides, Pictory is the closest match. For an on-screen presenter without filming, look at avatar platforms such as HeyGen or Synthesia. If you mostly need generated scenes, Runway is built for that.
Can invideo edit my own footage instead of stock?
Yes. Every plan includes the full timeline editor with color, audio and 3D tools, your own footage exports in 4K from Basic, and timeline editing does not use credits. Agent Two works inside that editor, with the Lite version on Basic and all versions from Pro.
Will YouTube demonetize videos made with invideo AI?
YouTube judges the content. Its inauthentic content policy, renamed on 15 July 2025, lists AI-generated videos made with generic or unoriginal templates that look mass-produced without the creator's own insight. Varied videos with a real point of view remain eligible.
How far do invideo credits go?
invideo's price table shows about 30 credits per 5-second Seedance 2.0 Fast clip, so Basic's 190 credits make about 6 clips, Pro's 1,000 about 33 and Ultra's 3,000 about 100. Unused credits do not roll over.
